FOREIGN INVESTORS: RESIDENCE AND WORKING CONDITIONS CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY AND RESIDENCE Although New Caledonia is part of the French Republic, it has its own special rules, particularly with regard to the entry and residence of foreigners. All non- EU nationals wishing to visit New Caledonia require a visa. For nationals of a European Union country, a simple identity card or passport is sufficient. You must apply for a visa at the prefecture in your place of residence or at the French consulate (or embassy) in your country of residence. Several types of visa are available: - stay < 3 months - stay > 3 months Once you have been granted a residence visa for more than 3 months, you may be eligible for a long-term residence permit, or even a permanent residence permit.
