CONDITIONS FOR CARRYING OUT A PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY EMPLOYEE All foreign nationals (other than French nationals) wishing to work in New Caledonia must apply, via their employer, for a work permit issued by the Direction du Travail et de l’Emploi du gouvernement de la Nouvelle-Calédonie (DTENC). A visa is required to obtain a work permit. For more information, click here FOREIGN INVESTOR A company is considered to be foreign-controlled if its holdings outside the territory are >33.33% if unlisted and 20% if listed. Financial relations between France and foreign countries are unrestricted. However, direct investments in New Caledonia are subject to an administrative declaration (designation of natural and legal persons, designation of investments, information on the New Caledonian entity where the investments are made, financing arrangements and distribution of capital before and after the operation, etc.).
