FEDERATIONS, TRADE UNIONS AND OTHER ASSOCIATIONS Many trade unions, professional associations and other associations are present in the New Caledonian landscape. They often represent a profession, a sport or a cause of general interest. Some are geared towards businesses, such as (but not limited to): Fédération des Industries de Nouvelle-Calédonie (FINC): brings together local production companies and participates in the development of a manufacturing industry that creates wealth and jobs. Fédération Calédonienne du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics (FCBTP): brings together the building trades, promotes the sector and analyses skills requirements. French Tech NC: facilitates the emergence of New Caledonian start-ups, supporting them at every stage of their development and putting them in touch with the French Tech network. Syndicat des commerçants: promotes the image of retailers in the eyes of the public. It represents retailers, advocates their interests to public authorities, and keeps them informed about current events and regulations. Syndicat des Importateurs de Nouvelle-Calédonie (SIDNC): organised around 3 main sectors and 2 sub-sectors, it advocates the interests of importers and the trade in general. Nouvelle-Calédonie Tourisme (NCT): promotes the destination internationally under the "Nouvelle-Calédonie Pacifique au Cœur" brand. It has offices in Australia, Japan, France and New Zealand. Sud Tourisme: works with tourism stakeholders to develop the attractiveness of the Southern Province as a tourist destination, building up offers and marketing them. 70
